This Matariki, please join us at Kiwi North for a kite-making workshop and interactive Matariki story time.

Traditionally, kites played an important role in Māori culture. The kite, “manu tukutuku” or “manu aute” was used for recreation and to make communicating from a distance possible. It was also used to connect heaven and earth, a way to send messages to people that have passed on.
