Kiwi North is OPEN from Tuesday 19th of May

Wednesday 13 May

Exciting news! From next Tuesday the 19th of May Kiwi North will be OPEN! Our hours will be from 10am - 2pm, 7 days a week.

There has never been a better time to explore the treasures in our own backyard and we invite you to discover why people travel the world to visit our place. We would LOVE to see you!

As essential workers, our husbandry team have been working throughout lockdown to care for our animals, making sure they remain healthy and happy even while the front doors were shut. The museum staff are working to open a brand new exhibition. And management have been busy preparing "the plan" to keep everyone safe. This will include stringent hygiene and cleaning of surfaces, contact tracing and social distancing (which our team of 5 million are pretty good at!).
While Heritage Park will be open to roam, the buildings and public toilets down on the park will remain closed to minimise risk.

We are open to visitors but at Alert Level 2 we cannot take any donations of objects, offer research facilities or venue hire.

Thank you all for the support shown as we navigate to 'new normal'- our visitors are at the heart of our business and we can't wait to welcome you back!

Tuesday 28 April

Today NZ moved to Level 3 (YAY!). However, Kiwi North will remain closed until we get permission to reopen so which is possibly at Level 2.

The husbandry team has been maintaining excellent care for our resident critters and we look forward to having visitors again soon.

We are thinking of our local businesses at this time and hope everyone is too.

Monday 23 March

Kiwi North will be closed to the public until further notice as per today's announcement from the government. We want to protect our community and support the efforts across Aotearoa to reduce the risk of Covid-19 and this is all of our part to play. As the situation unfolds all updates can be found on our social media.

In the meantime, our little resident treasures in the Kiwi House will be well cared for by the team and we will share what they get up to during this time. We'll also be sharing tid-bits from our collections and their stories because now more than ever we need to remember what our community is made of.

Stay safe and look after one another. From the team at Kiwi North

Saturday  21 March

CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY 23rd.

Apologies everyone but due to low visitation and to give our team some personal time we are closing for the weekend.

We expect to reopen on Monday but this is an unprecedented and very fast moving situation. We will update you all on facebook and Instagram. Stay safe.

Arohanui from all at Kiwi North.

Monday 16 March

Kiwi North is open to visit. We are following Ministry of Health guidelines for coronavirus and the risk for New Zealanders remains low. We will adhere to these guidelines and ask that our visitors do the same so we can make sure our spaces are safe and welcoming for everyone. If you are feeling unwell- please stay home and look after yourself. These are testing times for all communities but our kiwi spirit will get us through.

Here at Kiwi North we are doing our best to keep all our guests and own our team and whanau safe. All contact points such as eftpos machines, lift buttons, door handles, etc are wiped down regularly. Please help us by playing your part - wherever you go wash your hands often, dry them properly, use the santizer and tissues provided and/or carry your own.

BEFORE YOU VISIT

PLEASE use the hand sanitiser provided

If you are feeling unwell- PLEASE consider coming back to visit when you are healthy

If you have been overseas in the last 2 weeks PLEASE follow self-isolation guidelines as instructed by the NZ Government

These steps are to reduce the risk for all of our visitors, our staff and our community.

Thank you and enjoy your visit!
