Introduction to Kiwi North
Kiwi North is set on 25 hectares of rolling, volcanic farmland, forest and bush, with views that overlook the city of Whangarei and the Whangarei Heads. The site features a museum, a nocturnal kiwi house and gift store, and unique Victorian heritage buildings. Pack a picnic and explore this unique site. Ice creams, cold drinks and packaged snacks are available at visitor reception; campervan sites are also available.
Kiwi North is owned and administered by the Whangarei Museum and Heritage Trust. Previously an Incorporated Society, the organisation gained Charitable Trust status in July 2007. The Trust carries out its duty of guardianship of local natural and social history, supported financially mainly through grants, donations and admission charges
Family-friendly Event Days are our specialty – the Heritage Park Clubs open their doors to the public revealing displays of vintage farm machinery, stationary engines, and vintage cars. Novelty rides include miniature and full-sized trains, bullocks, miniature ponies and vintage tractors.
Themed Event days, food stalls, face painting and an eclectic mix of Edwardian games provide that festive flavour – so why not dress up in character and join in Kiwi North’s next Event Day fun.
